Prononciation & diction Sound like a french person

Congratulations! You have now mastered most of the tricks of French grammar. You can make close to perfect sentences and your mistakes are nothing to blush about.

Still, there’s that little sound that doesn’t want to come out of your mouth. What about saying a sentence all together with words you manage to pronounce perfectly on their own? Or understanding fast spoken French on the street?

Speaking a language naturally takes more than applying grammatical rules and mastering isolated sounds. There is a melody to it that may vary from person to person, and social situations.

Following up on our popular phonetics workshop, Anicet will map out with you the way to sound French. Working on very diverse excerpts from the most informal scenes from Ratatouille to more formal works like Cyrano de Bergerac, you will apply technical diction tips to real-life situations.

  • Open to students of level 5 & up

As an advanced student, you can pride yourself in having mastered some of the thorniest French grammar and conjugation rules. Bravo!

When it comes to taking the floor though, you can tell that a little something is missing – sometimes to the point where it can prevent you from daring to speak French. Maybe some tricky pronunciation? The flow of sentences? The fear that your accent won’t be understood? It is usually a little bit of everything. Because learning and mastering a language is not limited to knowing grammar rules, we designed a 3-part workshop specifically for advanced students that will improve your Frenchness on three fronts: Pronunciation & Diction, Flow & Body Language, and Beyond the Accent.

Thanks to our amazing teachers’ expertise, you can forget about being a national embarrassment and acquire Bill Murray’s French confidence!

We’ll practice with improv’ games, studying clips of classic French movies (from the French New Wave to Ratatouille), memorizing dialogues, analyzing the melody and tone of sentences, and more. Some of the same clips and excerpts will be studied and practiced from different angles across the workshops.

Quentin, Anicet and Jordan all have a background in the performing arts, so this workshop series is well suited, but not limited to, performers such as professional singers and actors.
