French Cover of the Day: “Paradis Perdus” (Christine and the Queens)

October 17, 2016

For those not in the know, Christine and the Queens is a recent pop sensation from France whose unique blending of genders, genre, and language has earned fans well beyond her native country and adoptive city of London. The artist, whose music has been released on Because Music and Neon Gold Records, is also currently touring North America (dates below).

The track we’d like you to hear interpolates French musician Christophe’s 1973 song”Paradis Perdus” with Christine and the Queens’ breakdown of Kanye West’s “Heartless“, for one truly singular, yearning performance. Christine (real name: Héloïse Letissier), who is accompanied by dancers and styles herself a bit in the vein of Michael Jackson also recently re-worked Beyonce’s “Sorry“.
