HISTOIRE DE FRANCE SERIES BUNDLE
Workshops
How did the Industrial Revolution change the face of 19th century France, and what were the events that led to absolute chaos during WWI and WWII?
In this 3-part workshop series, we will take you on a journey through the last two centuries of French and European history. First we’ll take a look at the Industrial Revolution that swept through Western Europe, starting with the British Empire and then France, in the middle of the 19th century. We will specifically highlight how new methods of production changed French society in a geographical, political and sociological way.
Then we’ll jump to the early 1900’s and explain the events that led to WWI and the collapse of all the major European Empires. Lastly, we’ll draw a link between the end of WWI and the rise of fascism in 1930’s Germany, ushering Europe towards total destruction during WWII.
Through these major shifts in European geopolitics, what role did France play? And how did it change France’s position on the international stage, as well as shape French society from within?
