Terms of service

Last updated: September 2026

These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the Coucou French Classes website, purchase of Coucou products and services, and participation in Coucou classes, workshops, events, and other offerings.

By accessing our website, creating an account, making a purchase, booking a class or event, or participating in a Coucou offering, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use our services or make a purchase.

1. Eligibility

Coucou group classes are intended for students aged 21 and older.

Private Classes may be available to students aged 15 and older, subject to teacher availability and approval. Students under 18 may be required to have a parent or guardian involved in the booking process.

By purchasing or booking a Coucou offering, you confirm that you meet any applicable age and eligibility requirements.

2. Purchases and Payments

All purchases are subject to the prices and availability displayed on the Coucou website at the time of purchase.

Coucou accepts the payment methods available at checkout. Orders and registrations are confirmed once payment has been successfully processed.

Where available, an installment payment plan may be offered at checkout. Eligibility, payment schedules, and other terms are determined by the payment provider and may vary.

You are responsible for providing accurate and complete information when making a purchase or creating an account.

3. Signature Classes

Choosing Your Level

Students are responsible for confirming that they are enrolling in the appropriate level before purchasing a Signature Class.

Coucou offers an online placement test, and Student Support is available at students@coucoufrenchclasses.com to assist students who are unsure of their level.

Once a student has enrolled, level changes are not available. Enrolling in an incorrect level does not qualify for an exception to the applicable cancellation, refund, or transfer policy.

Class Size

Signature Classes are small, fixed-group classes with a capacity of 10–12 students. Actual enrollment may vary.

Cancellations, Refunds, and Transfers

We know plans change! Signature Class registrations are subject to the following policy:

  • 30 or more days before the class starts: Choose a full refund or request a transfer to another Signature Class.

  • 15–29 days before the class starts: Receive the full value as store credit to book a new class. Refunds and transfers are not available.

  • Less than 15 days before the class starts: Your registration is final and is not eligible for a refund, store credit, or transfer.

  • After the class has started: Your registration is final and is not eligible for a refund, store credit, or transfer.

Missed Classes

If you miss a Signature Class, you can access make-up videos through your Student Portal.

Ten make-up videos are provided, one for each lesson. Each video becomes available at the scheduled time of the corresponding lesson.

Make-up videos cover the same lesson material but are not recordings of your specific class or group.

4. Conversation Labs

Booking

Students booking Conversation Labs without an existing package must purchase at least three (3) Conversation Labs in the same checkout.

You may combine different dates and teachers in the same booking.

Students with an existing Conversation Lab package may use their credits to book individual Labs.

Package Validity

Conversation Lab packages are valid from the date of purchase for the following periods:

  • 5-Lab package: 10 weeks

  • 10-Lab package: 20 weeks

  • 25-Lab package: 50 weeks

Unused credits expire at the end of the applicable validity period and cannot be used after expiration.

Refunds

Conversation Lab purchases, including individual Labs and packages, are non-refundable.

Changes and Rebooking

You may switch a scheduled Lab up to seven days before the session. When you switch, the Lab credit will be returned to your account so you can book another Lab.

Requests made less than seven days before the scheduled Lab are not eligible for a credit or rebooking.

Conversation Labs do not include make-up classes or recordings.

5. Private Classes

Booking

Private Class credits are purchased through the Coucou website. Students can browse available teachers and booking times and book directly through their Student Portal.

Private Class credits may be used with any available Coucou teacher.

Teacher availability varies and may change over time.

In-Person Private Classes

In-person Private Classes are offered at Coucou's NYC locations before 5:30 PM Eastern Time, subject to teacher and classroom availability.

Classroom space is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

After 5:30 PM Eastern Time, group classes take priority for Coucou classrooms. In-person Private Classes are therefore not available after 5:30 PM.

Online Private Classes

Online Private Classes are scheduled according to individual teacher availability.

Students can access their online meeting link through their Student Portal.

Class Length

Private Classes are 45 minutes.

Changes to Private Classes

If you need to cancel or reschedule a Private Class, please contact your teacher directly.

Your teacher's Coucou email address can be found under My Private Classes in the Student Portal.

Requests must be made at least 24 hours before the original class time.

Requests made less than 24 hours before class, as well as no-shows, result in forfeiture of the class credit.

Rescheduling is subject to teacher availability. A class is considered rescheduled only once the teacher has confirmed the new time.

Private Class Credit Expiration

Private Class credits are valid for six months from the date of purchase.

Unused credits expire at the end of the six-month period.

6. Workshops and Events

Workshop and event registrations are subject to the following policy:

  • Registrations may be cancelled for a refund when requested at least seven days before the event.

  • Registrations cancelled less than seven days before the event are non-refundable.

  • Registrations cannot be transferred to a future workshop or event.

  • If you can no longer attend, you're welcome to give your spot to another person. Please notify Coucou of the change in attendee.

Individual workshops or events may have additional terms listed on their registration page. Where applicable, those terms apply to that specific offering.

7. Coucou-Initiated Changes and Cancellations

Sometimes circumstances require us to change or cancel a class or event. Coucou may cancel, postpone, combine, or modify an offering when necessary, including due to low enrollment, teacher availability, scheduling changes, emergencies, or circumstances beyond our control.

If Coucou cancels a Signature Class or Conversation Lab, or is otherwise unable to provide the advertised class or course, we will contact affected students and offer appropriate options, which may include a transfer to another class, store credit, or a refund, depending on the circumstances.

Coucou may also change the instructor assigned to a class when necessary. Instructor changes may occur due to scheduling needs, planned leave, emergencies, or other operational reasons.

Instructor changes do not qualify for a refund, store credit, or transfer. All Coucou instructors are trained in the Coucou Method.

8. Books, Flashcards, and Other Printed Materials

Printed materials are generally final sale. Please contact us at students@coucoufrenchclasses.com if you have an issue with an order.

9. Digital Products and Gift Cards

Digital products, including digital Course Books, Exercise Books, digital bundles, and 6pm in Paris access, are non-refundable once access or delivery has been provided.

Gift cards are non-refundable and cannot be exchanged for cash.

10. Refunds and Store Credit

Unless otherwise stated in a product-specific policy, eligible refunds are subject to the following terms.

Refunds for amounts paid through a monetary payment method will be issued to the original payment method used for the purchase.

Any amount paid using store credit will be returned as store credit. Store credit cannot be refunded as cash or to a credit or debit card.

If a purchase was made using both a monetary payment method and store credit, any eligible refund will be divided between the original payment methods. The monetary portion will be returned to the original payment method, and the store credit portion will be returned as store credit.

11. Store Credit

Store credit may be redeemed toward eligible Coucou classes, Private Classes, workshops, events, and other offerings, subject to any applicable restrictions.

Store credit does not expire.

Store credit is not redeemable for cash and cannot be transferred to another person.

Store credit is separate from Conversation Lab credits and Private Class credits, which are session packages with their own validity periods.

12. Student Conduct and Safety

We want Coucou to be a welcoming and respectful place to learn.

Students are expected to contribute to a respectful and safe learning environment and to follow Coucou's Community Charter and reasonable instructions from Coucou staff and teachers.

Coucou may remove a participant from a class, event, or other offering if their behavior is disruptive, inappropriate, threatening, or unsafe.

Removal may result in loss of access to classes, events, or other Coucou services without refund, subject to applicable law.

13. Intellectual Property

All Coucou course materials, lesson content, recordings, Course Books, Exercise Books, Flashcards, and other educational materials are provided for personal educational use only.

Students may not copy, reproduce, distribute, publish, sell, share, sublicense, or otherwise use Coucou materials outside their intended personal educational use without prior written permission from Coucou.
