ABOUT THIS WORKSHOP

Coucou is launching a recurring online Book Club and we're kicking things off with a twist: two cozy murder mysteries written specifically for beginner French learners. Think simple dialogues, present tense narration, and a whole lot of Parisian intrigue. 🔍🇫🇷

Over three Sunday sessions in November, we'll dig into the 2 books, share our thoughts, and close out the series with a live Q&A with the author herself, France Dubin.

Not sure if this is your level? Take our placement test here to find out.

📖 Please read the books before the sessions!

Session 1 - Sunday, November 8th

Discussion on "Meurtre rue Saint-Jacques"

"Meurtre rue Saint-Jacques" brings you to the heart of Paris, in the historic Latin Quarter. Alice, an American, arrives with her friend Liz for a dream week in a charming rented apartment. But the day after they arrive, their landlord is found dead in their kitchen, and the perfect Parisian getaway turns into an investigation. The story unfolds as a cozy murder mystery, blending light suspense with cultural immersion and charm.

Session 2 - Sunday, November 15th

Discussion on "Meurtre avenue des Champs-Élysées"

"Meurtre avenue des Champs-Élysées" takes you to Paris, on the most famous avenue in the world. Alice, an American, is thrilled to spend a week at a French language school on the Champs-Élysées, surrounded by friendly classmates. But her dream week takes a dark turn when Madame Douce, her French teacher, is found dead in the classroom. The story unfolds as a cozy murder mystery, blending light suspense with cultural immersion and charm.

Session 3 - Sunday, November 22nd

Discussion on both books + Q&A with the author, France Dubin
