Dive into a 2-week exploration of the major and universally relatable topic of Identity with Coucou teacher Keveen!

What is identity? How do you define the word? How do you define yourself within that concept? These are some of the many questions that French-Lebanese Prix Goncourt laureate Amin Maalouf explores in his 2000 book Les Identités Meurtrières (In the Name of Identity).

What will be covered in the Book Club:

  • Selected excerpts from the book (reading it in advance is encouraged)
  • How identity shapes the worldview of different societies and communities
  • What it means to write a non-fiction essay
  • A look at the author’s biography — from growing up in the “Paris of the Middle East,” Beirut, to becoming a celebrated member of the French Academy
  • How to express your opinion in a debate

This online book club is offered over the course of two weeks:
– Saturday the 13th of September
– Saturday the 20th of September
