Born in Los Angeles and raised in a French-American high school, Juliette grew up speaking French at home and going to visit family in France during the summer. As a high school sophomore, she went to live in La Rochelle with her great-grandmother to get her French high school diploma before coming back to LA for university. She is now wrapping up her double major in Psychology and Mandarin Chinese at UCLA. In her free time, Juliette loves to learn foreign languages, play beach volleyball and train for races.

Voyage & gastronomie

Take a deep dive into the rich culture and history of the regions of France through travel and cuisine. Learn about culinary specialties like bouillabaisse and pissaladière, the country’s wine-producing regions, geography and vacation culture. Discuss, debate and taste your way through France!

Teachers will select content and materials based on their expertise and preferences while also consulting with students to align with their expectations. Conversation classes are designed to foster a dynamic exchange of ideas. Guided by the teacher, students are encouraged to share their thoughts and experiences. The goal is to create a relaxed and engaging atmosphere—the classes are not intended to feel like a lecture or formal academic lesson.

Here are some topics that might be covered in this module. They can be adjusted based on the interests of both the teacher and the students.

  • les régions de France
  • géographie et terroir, les régions vinicoles
  • le guide Michelin
  • recettes de cuisine
  • les vacances en France

This class will be taught exclusively in French.
