Teacher

Sophia was born and raised in Paris. After studying haute couture embroidery, she honed her craft working for world-renowned fashion icons like Chanel and Jean Paul Gaultier. However, when she's not busy with her needle and thread, she loves to check out art exhibits at museums, going to the movies, cooking and drawing. She moved to Los Angeles at the beginning of 2023 and joined Coucou in May. She also loves her two little cats Amato and Mnouchkine.

On Saturday, November 8, 2025, she will be hosting a 4‑hour, in‑person embroidery workshop in Silver Lake where you’ll create your own unique brooch, choosing from a star, crescent moon, or clover shape. This class is open to all levels. Whether you're a beginner or already have experience, it's a fun and creative way to spend an afternoon !

You're Grand Débutant, if...

You can introduce yourself in French, talk about your job and hobbies – even if you sometimes have to rely on the kindness (and patience) of strangers to make yourself understood.

You can conjugate regular verbs in the present tense. You can also conjugate common irregular verbs, such as être, avoir, faire and aller.

You know how to get articles and adjectives to agree with their nouns (for the most part).
