We start with how French sounds, then build from there: verbs, articles, adjectives, everyday vocabulary, and your first way to talk about the future. The point is not to memorize a list of phrases. It is to understand enough of the structure to start making your own.

Who is it for?

Level 1 is for true beginners and students with only light exposure to French.

  • You’re starting from scratch.
  • You know a few words or phrases from school, travel, apps, or other light exposure, but you don’t have a structured foundation.
  • You want to understand how French works instead of memorizing disconnected phrases.

No previous grammar knowledge is expected. We start with pronunciation and build from there.

What you’ll learn in this level:

Level 1 gives you the foundations to understand how French sounds, how basic sentences are built, and how to start expressing yourself in everyday situations.

  • Tools to help you pronounce unfamiliar words with more confidence

BUILD YOUR FIRST FRENCH SENTENCES

  • Subject pronouns and regular present-tense verbs
  • Essential verbs: être, avoir, aller, and faire
  • Articles, noun gender, and plurals
  • Adjective agreement and placement
  • Adverbs and the near future

TALK ABOUT YOUR EVERYDAY LIFE

  • Introductions, age, nationality, and where you live
  • Family, work, and daily routines
  • Likes, dislikes, and hobbies
  • Weekend plans and travel

What is the goal at the end of the level?

By the end of Level 1, you’ll understand how basic French sentences are put together and have the tools to start expressing yourself in everyday situations.

You’ll be able to:

  • Build simple sentences in the present tense
  • Introduce yourself and talk about where you’re from and where you live
  • Talk about your work, family, routines, interests, likes, and dislikes
  • Describe people and things with more detail
  • Say where you’re going and talk about simple future plans

The goal is to understand the building blocks well enough to create your own sentences, not just repeat set phrases.
