Level 3 is for lower-intermediate students who are comfortable in the present tense and ready to build a real past-tense system.

• You want to talk about experiences, memories, and events with more structure.

The level starts with a review of present-tense irregular verbs, then builds the past system in depth.

By the end of Level 3, you’ll understand how French organizes the past and be able to use that system to tell a clear, structured story.

You’ll be able to:

• Choose between the passé composé and imparfait based on what you mean
• Use the plus-que-parfait to show what happened before another past event
• Form the passé composé with both avoir and être, including agreement with être
• Use direct and indirect object pronouns, y, and en to avoid repetition
• Talk about experiences, memories, and events in longer, more connected sentences

These choices keep getting sharper with practice, but you’ll leave with a clear system for building a past-tense timeline.
